On the Werbung und Marktkommunikation (WM) degree programme, you will learn about all the disciplines that play a role in the advertising and communication industry.

The programme concludes with the Bachelor's examination after seven semesters. The academic degree is the internationally recognised Bachelor of Arts.

Basic facts about the program.

As one of the few state degree programmes in Germany, Werbung und Marktkommunikation offers a combination of disciplines that are oriented towards the working practice of the communications industry and reflect it scientifically. Students are optimally prepared for work in communication agencies or departments of companies, organisations and institutions.
The degree programme focuses on communication and social sciences. It teaches the conception of communication and advertising content and conveys strategic, economic, social science, content and design elements across all advertising media. The fundamentals of social sciences, design, marketing/economics/management and technology are given equal weight. The degree programme does not focus on just one of the four directions. The programme covers the entire communication process, from research and analysis, conception and strategy to creation and production.

The foundation programme provides basic knowledge in the areas of market communication, social sciences, media and communication, business, design and production. Students also learn scientific methods and acquire social skills.

The main study programme focuses on deepening knowledge in the areas of conception and strategy, integrated market communication, online communication and communication and social sciences. Students are free to choose further specialisation subjects.

The content of the degree programme is first taught in a theoretical and interdisciplinary manner and then implemented in practice-oriented exercises and communication projects. The practical semester, guest lectures by experts from agencies and companies and a wide range of excursions emphasise the practical relevance of the course.

The Bachelor's degree programme concludes after seven semesters. The academic degree is the internationally recognised Bachelor of Arts.

During the degree programme, students have the opportunity to complete a voluntary semester abroad or a voluntary internship abroad. Individual planning takes place in consultation with the degree programme and the International Office.

English-language courses can also be chosen as part of the curriculum.

The internship semester is an essential part of the degree programme. Students can complete it in a communications agency or a company. The practical relevance is emphasised by guest lectures by experts from agencies and companies as well as a variety of excursions. As part of the mentoring programme, the course invites students to workshops with practical and course-related topics.
